i considered
real hard
relaxing my hair today
ever since i have been wearing it natural
i have had nothing but stress
maybe it is that simple
i'll straighten out my hair
and my life
in one jar of cream relaxer
no lye/lie
i really considered it
that just could be the answer to a lot of problems in my life
when i had a perm
nobody expected me to be deep
and when i actually had something profound to say
it was a pleasant surprise
to those with lower expectations of me
with an afro
if i wanna say somebody is a trifling
shiftless
low down
shady
reckless
son of a something not so nice
people are apparantly appalled
as if a woman with an afro being pissed off is some kind of contradiction
and a woman with a perm speaking in complete sentences is an exception
yeah
i really considered

something in my life gotta be easy
something has to not need my full attention
and energy
something has to be effortless
my job isn't
my career isn't
my family isn't
my womanhood isn't
something
anything
gotta be easy
for a change
